On the plateau of the Mampong Hills lies the Ejura land that serves as the grain of basket of Ghana. It is on this land that the scheme through the support of the Ejuraman Traditional Council, acquired a total of 715 acres of land from the defunct Ejura Farms Ltd to pilot the NSS Agriculture Project in 2010. The Farm is located at Ebuom 14 km off the Ejura – Nkoranza road in the Ejura Sekyere – Odumase Municipality.
The farm in 2011 was hailed by many including the Ministry of Food and Agriculture and the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) as a bold and successful project leading to the invitation of the Executive Director of NSS to address the IFAD conference in Italy.. The pilot was successful by harvesting 6,400 bags of maize during the pilot year. These were sold under a special arrangement to the Conference of Heads of Assisted Secondary Schools (CHASS) for the feeding of students in 95 Senior High Schools in the Ashanti Region.
The farm has 5 tractors and accessories, 2 Combined Harvesters, One Pick-Up, 1 Five-Tonner truck, 2 Six-Row Planters, 1 Chisel Plough, 1 Boom Sprayer, 1 Grain Dryer.
The farm has the potential to produce 10,000 bags of maize and soya beans annually if the right management practices are taken and adequate resources provided at the right time.
