The Ghana National Service Scheme has announced the shortlist of its top 5 finalists for the NSS Bottled Water Competition.

The shortlisted candidates will compete in the final round at the Headquarters of the National Service Scheme where they will meet the project committee to justify their entries for consideration on December 20th, 2019.

 The finalists are:

ADNAN SHIRAZ (NSSGDM9482519)

ENOCH APPIAH (NSSGCC5777719)

FERNAND OKYERE (NSSGSU9921319)

ISAAC OSABUTEY TEYE (NSSGDM8358619)

KOFI GYATEH ENTSIWAH (NSSGEW5324519)

The maiden NSS Bottled Water Competition allowed national service personnel to become part of the Scheme’s resolve to venture into bottled and sachet water production by suggesting a brand name and label design.

More than 307 entries were submitted. The submissions were narrowed down to 50 by an expert panel and eventually selected the top 5 finalists.

Kwaku Ohene Djan, the Deputy Executive Director – Operations and Chairman of the Medie Water Project Committee said,

“The judging criteria for shortlisting was but not limited to the originality of ideas, aesthetic considerations, creativity and innovation, quality of design, interpretation and clarity of suggested brand name, and presentation”.

 Background

The National Service Scheme is set to go into the production of bottled and sachet water next year. The initiative is part of a comprehensive strategy by the Scheme to augment the government’s drive and efforts in addressing the issues of youth unemployment and provide Ghanaians with a healthier and affordable alternative of mineral water.

In a bid to source a marketable identity, a Call for Entries was launched in October 2019, to solicit for input from national service personnel.
